Today was an adventurous day but as with most things, there are two sides to every story. We will share both versions and let the reader draw his/her own conclusion as to the truth.
De’s Version – Our day started with a taxi ride through Barcelona to locate the meeting point for our tour. As our driver zipped through rush hour traffic, my nails dug deep into Vince’s hand in fear. Reminds me of driving with Devin! We enjoyed an informative e-bike tour from JP learning about various cathedrals, monuments and Olympic sites from the 1992 games. Along the route, I had a slight run in with a taxi. Horns were honked. Hands were raised but yet I rode on. My favorite building was redesigned by an artist/architect named Antoni Gaudi who is reflected throughout Barcelona.

Vince’s version – We walked down a long desolate street to secure our e-bike. Moments later, out guide appeared as if out of nowhere. We were outfitted with Jeep e-bikes that had seats that didn’t fit a man of my stature. After becoming acquainted with our bikes, we started our five hour tour – much like Gilligan’s Island. Our guide JP was off like a light as De and I tried to keep up. We stopped at several points of interest. JP was full of rich information. We weaved in and out of traffic down the center lane uphill both ways. Yadda Yadda Yadda, Five hours and 1,000 miles later (you do the math) Vince claims his skills and the miles incurred today have now qualified him for the Tour de France. We came to the end of our tour with his seat imprinted on his ass and muscles screaming. De looked down at his leg and said, honey you are bleeding. There can only be one explanation:

Vince bent down, grabbed a fist full of dirt and rubbed it into his wound and proclaimed “No one dies today”
On which we can both agree: Barcelona is a beautiful city with rich culture and history. The most renowned building has been under construction since 1881 with years to go before complete. The accountant in us wonders who they could stay on budget. The stories within the building tell of the life and death of Christ with beautiful statues and symbols. The variation in styles is probably due to the number of contractors!

At the end of the day, we enjoyed a wonderful meal in the hotel restaurant. We were seated between two other couples and struck up a conversation discovering that they are on the same cruse. Leslie and Sandy are from Australia and have the coolest accents and have been on two previous Regent cruises which solidifies our choice. Dardin and Monica are from North Carolina. So excited to see who else we meet along the way!
